IN YOUR AREA?

Donna F. Smith, Ph.D., N.D., C.D.N., C.C.N.
To improve and maintain optimal health for the rest of your life, requires a Clinical Nutrition Analysis of your Laboratory Tests and adhering to a Therapeutic Dietary and Supplemental Program which must be designed based upon scientific nutritional testing and analysis from a Nutritional Healthcare Professional.
However, not all Nutritional Healthcare Professionals are the same, nor are their services. Degrees To Look For In A Nutritional Healthcare Professional:
Ph.D. in Clinical Nutrition (Ph.D.)
and is also Board Certified as a Clinical Nutritionist (C.C.N.) - i.e., (Ph.D., C.C.N.)
or is a Certified Nutritionist (C.N.). Or (Ph.D., C.N.)
and/or is a Naturopathic Doctor (N.D.).
Some Chiropractors (D.C.) have completed the Chiropractic' Nutritional Diplomate (DCBCN). So their designation would be D.C., DCBCN. Even better if they were board certified in Clinical Nutrition, i.e., DC, DCBCN, CCN. Or
a doctor of any specialty who has completed post-graduate study in Clinical Nutrition Testing and Therapeutic Protocols to become Board Certifiede in Clinical Nutrition (C.C.N.) Designations would be M.D., C.C.N., or O.D., C.C.N.
Important Notes:
In respect to other doctors, such as M.D., O.D., and D.C., just because the health care professional has completed post-graduate studies in Clinical Nutrition or the Nutrition Diplomate while studying to be a Chiropractor, keep in mind that nutrition is a secondary, not primary, health care service for this professional. In other words, their primary practice (medicine or chiropractics) keeps them so busy they do not have time to:
be an active Clinical Nutritionists on a daily basis in their health care business.
provide a full service Clinical Nutrition business.
stay informed of the latest in clinical nutrition research, analysis, testing and protocols.
With all due respect, well-qualified, full-service Clinical Nutritionists view these types of Clinical Nutritionists as professionals offering nutritional bandaids. For examples:
A Nutritional Bandaid is providing supplements to help your symptoms so you may feel better now, but does not correct the cause, so in time, maybe months or even years later, symptoms will resurface again. However, resurface more intense or frequent because the "cause" has had all these months or years to get worse before producing symptms again. Or
They may test and dispense supplements, but they do not provide individualized dietary plans based on your own biochemistry (i.e., based on test results) and/or
They may not provide any dietary education consultations to assist you in making dietary changes in your lifestyle. In other words, they do not provide services to education you in diet, lifestyle and mind-body principles so you can prevent re-creating the same deficiencies and health challenges you are suffering with right now.
Therefore, here are some Important Questions to Ask, Even if the Professional has a Clinical Nutrition Degree and/or Board Certification.
How often do you test your patients for nutrient deficiencies, biochemical imbalances and organ or gland dysfunctions (all of which proceeds disease)?
A - The answer you want to hear is every patient is tested for deficiencies, imbalances and dysfunctions.
How do you test your patients?
A - The answer you want is that the patient's biochemistry is tested, i.e., blood, urine, saliva, hair and stool.
Note: Physical Examinations may also be provided by some professionals to test for nutrient deficiencies, imbalances and dysfunctions. However, unless the professional is also providing a clinical nutrition analysis of their biochemistry (blood, etc.), you are not receiving a complete or comprehensive evaluation of your nutritional state. Also, please note that in time, any findings identified from a physical examination will appear in biochemistry testing of blood, urine, saliva, hair and stool.
Do you know how to provide a "Clinical Nutrition Analysis of Laboratory Reports?" or "Do you evaluate using only the ranges on the Laboratory Reports?"Note: the reference ranges on the Lab Reports are medical ranges, not nutritional ranges according to values in "homeostasis?"
A - if they do not know the difference between a clinical nutrition and medical interpretations of laboratory reports, and are making all decisions regarding your supplements, diet, lifestyle, etc. based only on the ranges on the laboratory reports, they are not the type of nutritional professional that can help you get to all causes. They will be able to help you with any that are disease-related and/or life-threatening at this time, which is definitely important. However, they cannot help you prevent the development of future diseases that are currently progressing at the deficiency, biochemical imbalance or organ/gland dysfunctional stages because they do not know how to analyze laboratory reports for these findings.
Also, because symptoms present in stages of deficiency, imbalance and dysfunction, and not just when in the disease stage, this professional will not be able to help you with the causes of these symptoms unless he or she knows how to do a clinical nutrition analysis of your lab reports.
Do you then recommend nutritional supplements based on the findings from their biochemical testing or simply from my symptoms?
A-all advice is based on scientific testing and evaluations, not symptoms alone. Note: if you are following the advice of any professional and that advice is not based on a scientific test or evaluation, then the professional is guessing at what you need. This includes taking drugs recommended by your physician. Scientific Testing and Evaluations are the map that tells you were to go and what you need -- anything else is just guessing. Making decisions based on guesswork, wastes time, energy (efforts), money and delays receiving what you need to heal, so the cause is getting worse every day that you and your professional are wasting time guessing.
What type of supplements do you dispense or recommend? A - Whole Food Therapeutic Supplements sold only to health care professionals. Note: whole food therapeutic supplements are clinically-formulated to raise specific nutrient deficiencies, balance biochemistry and improve the function of organs and glands once identified thorugh biochemical testing and evaluations.
Note: if they do not dispense a professional line of therapeutic supplements, but simply refers you to the health food stores or independent vitamin distributors, you will not be purchasing supplements "potent enough" or "formulated" to correct clinical level deficiencies, imbalances or dysfunctions identified on lab reports.
Also click here to read Dr. Smith's article on "Three Ways Supplements Are Manufactured Today" so you know the difference. Why is this important? Because only "whole food therapeutic" supplements are formulated to heal at a cellular and tissue level and restore clinical level deficiencies identified in laboratory tests (blood, urine, saliva, hair and stool).
Please note that most health care professionals, even if they have a degree or certification in clinical nutrition, do not adhere to the whole food philiosophy, primarily because they were not trained in the whole food philosophy of treatment. Thus, they dispense or recommend nutritional drugs (synthetic and isolates). Doing this short-term (for example for 2 months or less) for a specific clinical effect, is an appropriate form of treatment, however, to recommend or dispense nutritional drugs for three months or longer will adversely affect and manipulate the biochemistry, suppress symptoms and cause a myriad of new health challenges.
If they do dispense supplements, ask what are the names of the companies who provide the supplements you dispense? (Not all professional supplement product companies provide "whole food therapeutic supplements"). Once you have these names, you may then contact Dr.Smith and she will be glad to inform you if the company provides whole food therapeutic supplements or not.
Do you design Dietary Plans based on the findings from my biochemical testing? Some nutritional professionals may not know what you are talking about here, but simply give you a list of healthy foods and instruct you to eat these or they may design a diet (dietary plan) based on this list. A - However, what you want is to have a dietary plan designed based on the scientific test results of your own biochemistry, so you know if you truly should be eating carrots, for example. Carrots are a healthy food, but not for someone with elevated Serum Glucose.
Do you provide Dietary Consultations to help me implement the dietary plans you designed for me? A-Yes
Do you provide Lifestyle Consultations to help me make changes in my lifestyle, home or work environment that is in alignment with physical principles that affect health. A-Yes For example, if the professional knows nothing about Electro-Magnetic Fields (EMFs) and your home or work has not been EMF Remediated, you will develop EMF-related diseases, even though you are eating foods and taking supplements based on your biochemistry test findings. Click hereto read Dr. Smith's comprehensive article on EMFs. Learn about Level 1 on how to protect yourself and family from harmful EMFs and Level II on how to change their frequencies to be health-enhancing.
Do you provide Mind-Body Principle Education Consultations to help me develop health-related and health-oriented beliefs, thoughts and actions? A-Yes
Many experts have reported that disease actually begins in the Mental, Emotional and Spiritual levels of our being and then manifests itself on the physical level, which has been labeled as a physical disease. For example, an angry person develops liver disease, a person with deep resentments develops cancer, a person with a broken heart develops heart disease, and so on.
So anyone who has the goal of truly becoming and staying healthy for the rest of their life can see the value of being evaluated on all levels of being and correct any erroneous, misleading or misinformed beliefs or thoughts about their mind and body so their actions are in alignment with healthy mental, emotional and spiritual principles.
Additionally, if anyone has as any long-term habits that do not promote health, change on the mental, emotional and spiritual level is a must to create new healthy physical habits (or daily practices). For example, how many months or years have many people struggled with exercising consistently 3-5 days a week and still do not exercise this regularly? You may be one of them. Or think of other harmful lifestyle habits, such as eating late at night, smoking, drinking too much alcohol or eating too much, etc., these destructive lifestyle practices require mind-body principle coaching and supportive reinforcement to assist people in permanently replacing harmful habits with principle-centered, healthy habits or daily practices. Few people have ever mastered these lifestyle changes alone, especially, the more severely ingrained habits.
Lastly, Dr. Smith has identified that there are 158 dietary, lifestyle and mind-body principles or practices that must be integrated into your lifestyle for you to truly be living a healthy lifestyle to promote health and prevent disease. She has been surveying every new client, since opening her business in 1981, to identify how many of the 158 they know – the outcome of her surveys are they know on the average 3-4, with only a few have known up to 11. So another possible question to ask other nutritional professionals is how many principles are they aware of either from their professional education/training and/or discovered through clinical experience and do they coach their patients/clients on them?

A Disease Labeled As "No Cure" Means "Drugs & Surgery" Won't Cure It!
When a disease is labeled, "no cure,"
what this really means is that the treatment of medicine, i.e., drugs
and surgery) cannot cure it.
The human body is capable of
healing itself of any disease. However, to do so your body needs three things from you to help it heal. What are they? Click here and read "The Body Needs Your Help To Heal" on the web page, titled, "Nutrient Supplement Questionnaire."
"Nature has provided what humans and animals need to live: Nature provides air to breathe, food from the land to eat, water from lakes and streams to drink. It always made sense to me that the Intelligence behind the creation of Nature would have the intelligence and forethought to also provide what humans and animals needed to heal itself.
In 1975, I discovered my assumption was correct and I discovered what Nature provided. Along with these gifts from Nature (doing its part), also, came dependence and responsibility. I learned that to heal and maintain health with what Nature gave us to do so, also required three things (dependence) from humans (our responsibilities).
When we are knowledgeable about and responsible to do our part to provide what the body is dependent upon us in order to heal, the body does exactly what Nature designed it to do -- It heals Itself Of Any Illness or Disease!"

A Word from Dr. Smith regarding this Secure Website. "I have had this website since the early 1990's. As you can see by its design, it is from an original style where the left column is the navigation bar, instead of today's contemporary websites that have a drop-down Menu. From the onset, this site has been secure from viruses and malware and still is.
You may have noticed Google is now placing a padlock icon to the left of website addresses, which can be misleading if you do not know what it means. If the padlock has a red slash across it, this means that the website is not secure for credit card processing. A red slash does not mean the website is not secure from viruses and malware. To be secure for card processing, the website requires an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Certificate and special coding for this purpose. However, “Information only” websites, like this one, do not require an SSL because no currency is being processed through the website. Still, Google is placing the padlocks on all websites, and this is very misleading to those who do not understand their meaning.
Before the SSL Certificate and Coding, “https:/” represented websites that were SSL secure for card processing and “http:/” websites were not. However, though an http:/ website is not secure for card processing that does not mean that it is not secure against viruses and malware.
Please be assured that websites with http:/, padlocks with red slashes, and pop-up warning signs are now an "automatic" response from Google crawlers when they come across a website that does not have an SSL (i.e., does not a padlock without red slash), even if the website does not require one (like information only websites) OR the website cannot be coded for an SSL Certificate because it is an original website design from the 1990's or earlier. This website is both…it does not require an SSL because it is an information only website and it cannot be coded for SSL because of its original design; hence it will always have the red slash over the padlock. .
This website contains over 1000 educational webpages, which our contemporary websites are not designed to accommodate any more. This is why I plan to maintain this original design website from Network Solutions, who guarantees all of its websites are all virus and malware free, whether of original or contemporary design, and currently I do not provide a website that processes card payments.
